Mission
In 1987, two teachers founded Novel Units at their kitchen table in Palatine, Illinois. ECS Learning Systems, Inc. acquired Novel Units in July 1998 and relocated the business to Bulverde, Texas. From the beginning, our company mission has been to help teachers build a quality literature program that fosters love of literature.

Purpose
Love of literature is at the heart of what we do. We offer two complete guides for hundreds of novels, so teachers can immerse students in the titles they want to teach. Teachers gain hours of time, not to mention peace of mind. At Novel Units, we pride our guides on being:

Our thorough approach provides teachers with a Student Packet and Teacher Guide for each novel, with no content overlap. The time-saving, inspiring lesson plans include everything needed to teach a novel—created by teachers for teachers. Moreover, every activity and question is highly pertinent to the particular novel.

We publish the largest selection of literature guides available anywhere. With more than 1,200 guides for more than 700 novel titles, teachers always tell us we have the title they couldn’t find anywhere else.
