The books published by these two companies are supplemental materials for teachers. ECS also publishes educational materials for families to use at home. ECS and Novel Units materials are practical, user-friendly, educationally sound, and enjoyable.

Our audience breaks down into three groups: busy teachers looking for great, ready-to-use teaching ideas; supportive parents looking for ways to enhance their children’s education; and discerning kids looking for learning activities/challenges outside the classroom.

We are not interested in dry, theoretical material. ECS and Novel Units produce the following types of materials:

• activity books (K-12) for individual or group use by students
• resource books (secondary grades) with strategies and extensive background information
• books focusing on higher-order thinking skills across the curriculum
• books parents use with their children to enhance the skills necessary for success in school
• primary and intermediate thematic units that offer interdisciplinary, theme-based activities that address both basic and higher-level thinking skills
• literature guides that teach and extend literature selections with background information, discussion questions, vocabulary activities, writing activities, objective/essay tests, and extension activities that build higher-order thinking skills
